We have just one more trip to make before we settle down for the winter.
As you can see, our trailer is filthy. The truck was just as bad, but we at least ran it through a carwash. If you look in the upper right corner of the picture, you can see the dome of the observatory. They let you go in at night and use it if you want to. It's been cloudy and hazy at night so it hasn't been good observatory weather.
There is not much to Benson. It's an old town, founded in 1880 and according to them, it has the best weather in the country. I can believe that in the winter, but not the summer. It's probably better known as the place you turn off the main highway and go to Tombstone.
We noticed that this is the time of year for blooming flowers in New Mexico and Arizona. I guess that makes sense because of the warm winter and very hot summers. In New Mexico, it was the Banana Yucca that were everywhere. It's a short, spiky plant with a tall blooming stem that turns into small, banana shaped seed pods. I don't know what the white, flowering bushes in Arizona are called, but they are blooming away.
I have talked about the wind damage to the trailer before, but I didn't include pictures. Here is the worst of the damage.
You can see where the metal tore and the screws were ripped out. Other damage was more small tears in the metal and for some reason, two of the orange running lights are missing. One of them is completely gone, leaving just a round hole for the wires. The other one is just missing the orange cover.
When we make the run back to Houston in late January, we need to plan around the weather and try to avoid wind, hail, rain and snow storms.
In other damage news, I have an appointment to take the truck in to a body shop in Yuma. We will finally get the hail dents fixed.
No new house news and no new beer news this week. The only thing close to news is that it is a good thing we left Houston. They had a really bad storm and it messed with the water supply. They were under a Boil Water warning for almost a week. It's no fun when you can't drink or cook with your water.
