It’s been a while since I last posted anything. Let me just say that RV parks have overloaded WiFi networks. the places we stay at usually don’t have the best cell service either.
Since my last post we stopped at Burns, Boise, Brigham City, Rawlins, and Fort Collins. I will probably post about the others but today I will write about Fort Collins.
We stayed at a KOA park. Getting there was tricky. The city put in a round about and renamed the exits. Our GPS said to take the 287b exit. There is no exit with that name anymore. I took the 287 exit, which was wrong. The GPS took us through streets that weren’t meant for a fifth wheel.
Fort Collins is the most bike friendly city we’ve stopped at. We went 15 miles up the Poudre River trail. Jan had a little accident. She hit a rut in the dirt at a wrong angle and crashed. She scraped up her leg and arm.
I was going to add a few pics from the trip, but I guess I haven’t uploaded them yet.
Fort Collins is also the best city for craft beer. Too bad the were all closed. We finally found one that was open. This was Coopersmith’s Pub & Brewing. I had a really good brown ale and Jan had a wheat beer with honeydew melon. We would go back if we had the chance.
We went to Estes Park on a sightseeing trip. It is famous for the Stanley Hotel which is supposed to be the inspiration for The Shining. I believe it. It is a big spooky looking hotel on the top of a hill, overlooking the town.
You can’t tell from my pictures, but there is a hedge maze in front. You can’t get lost in it though. It’s only about 4 feet high. The picture of the town is the actual view from the hotel.
We will probably come back to Fort Collins sometime. It is a pretty town near the college. It looks like any other town when you get farther away. There is a lot more we would like to do. I didn’t get to go to the New Belgium Brewing company and have a Fat Tire amber ale.
That‘s enough for tonight.
