Cape May

We took a day trip to Cape May yesterday.

Cape May was founded in the early 1800's. It's claim to fame now is that it has more Victorian houses than any other city in America (including San Francisco). Around 1875 or so, the town burned down and this caused a major building boom when Victorian houses were all the rage. Luckily, no more fires and no major hurricanes destroyed the place again so a lot of those houses are still standing. Of course, most of them are now historical houses and can't be touched, except for maintenance.

All of the these houses are over $1,000,000 so we won't be retiring here.

The city also has an historic lighthouse.

We weren't allowed on the beach near the lighthouse because dogs aren't allowed after April 1.

There is an old WWII bunker on the beach too.

Finally, we went to this old preserved town called Cold Springs. They preserved most of the old town building. One of the preserved building was the Cold Springs Brewery. We stopped and had a beer, the dogs had chips and popcorn. You can see Brie in the bottom left corner.

I put all of the pictures (and more) out there on the New Jersey page.
