Chiloquin, OR

Population: 755 Elevation 4,180

We are on our way to Bend now.

I lived in Chiloquin back in 1979 and 1980. Chiloquin is named after the Indian tribe that is the largest part of the population here, not that there is much of a population. When we lived here, the population was 600 so it grew a little.

Here is where we used to live.

It's run down and is no longer a business. When we lived here it was the Williamson River Resort with 5 RV sites and 4 cabins. That front part used to be a big porch with a the store and gas station in front. Now it seems to be just a run down house. The second story is the bedrooms. I had a room on the back. The cabins are still there so maybe they still rent them out.

The Waterwheel RV Park is nice. The sites are skinny though. It is wide enough to get the awning out and has room for the dogs to run. This place used to be a mill and the mill race is still there.

The first two pictures are of the mill race and the last picture is where the mill race goes back into the Williamson River. There isn't a dog park for Brie, but we are allowed to let the dogs off leash on the island. She will like that.

There seems to be only 2 employers in town. The casino and the Jeld-Winn window and door factory. When we lived here the Jeld-Winn factory was factory that made shingles and there was no casino. The only other big employer was the lumber mill and that is not in business anymore.

I have been getting emails and phone calls from Craigslist people. Jan put a stolen bike report out there and someone is out there selling a RadPower bike so they contact me first before they see about the bike. The bike isn't mine. The seller's bike has a battery and a rear rack, mine didn't. One person made the suggestion to contact Rad Power Bikes. If someone tries to buy accessories for a stolen bike, they should contact me first. I guess Rad asks the caller to give the serial number before selling certain accessories like chargers and batteries.

Here is tonight's sunset.
