I played around the the website layout. I moved all the blog posts to another page and I left only the most recent blogs on the Home Page. The Explore button now takes you to the Blog page to see all the blogs.
The saga of the lost mail is over. We met up with Laurie in Clayton, GA and she brought the wayward mail. Most of it was junk, but there were some very important things in there like our drivers licenses, a loan payment booklet, and my new sunglasses. Thank you Laurie. If you don't remember me talking about this earlier, we requested our mail to be forwarded to us in Southaven, MS on September 9. We got it yesterday, October 12.
Clayton, GA is about halfway between Fair Play, SC and Murphy, NC and that's why we picked it to meet.
That's Jan in the blue and Laurie in the tie dye.
We ate lunch at the Rusty Bike Cafe. It is a biker cafe, if there is such a thing, with lots of Harley stuff on the walls and lots of pictures of people on their motorcycles. The food was pretty good. After that, we walked downtown and ended up at a wine bar that served wine flights and beer flights with local wines and beers. I drank most of the beer flight. Jan and Laurie only sipped a couple of them. They concentrated on the wine flight and each bought a bottle of the a local white wine. I don't remember what it was called, but it was like a chardonnay.
Clayton is where Deliverance was filmed. The Chattooga River is where they filmed the rafting scenes. It is still a big white water rafting area. Deliverance couldn't happen today. It is too much of a trendy place to live. They have a golf course and pricey housing developments.
Leaves are rapidly turning colors in the mountains but I forgot to bring my camera and didn't get any pictures of them. You can kind of see them in the background in the 2 pictures above. In Fair Play, they are not turning much yet. Maybe next year we will be in the mountains later in October to see the leaves.
We have been in this campground a while and will not be coming back. All the level spots are taken up with the people who bought their sites. There are few available for campers. The sites for visitor campers are hilly and on narrow roads. The place we have is on the side of a hill and I had to put blocks under the steps so they would hit the ground. They do not have a dog park and Brie is bummed out. She has no place to run free. She can't run very far on the end of a leash.
Getting out of our site will be dangerous for the trailer. I might have to get our neighbor to move his truck. After that, I need to make a sharp left turn between trees. I have to be careful and not scrape the sides of the trailer. Then I have to go up and over 2 hills to make it to a place where I can turn around and go back over the same 2 hills. Jan will never come back because of the bugs. There are a lot of stink bugs around here and they get in the trailer. They are slow and easy to catch, but we don't really want them in the trailer. As I write, I can see 3 on the outsides of various windows.
