Fink Fest is going on right now!
I don't have any pictures of Fink Fest '22 so here is a bird picture (there are cardinals all over the place here). There is an intersection on the way to Pottsboro with Fink Liquor and Fink Market. It is an unincorporated town from back in cowboy days that has been swallowed up by Pottsboro. They still celebrate the town with an historical marker (#7362 if you want to look it up). It was 100º when we drove by so there wasn't a lot going on. There will be a band later on, after the sun goes down.
When we were here 2 years ago, the city of Sherman was working on highway 75. The off-ramps and frontage roads were all torn apart. The highway itself was full of potholes. Guess what, after 2 years, nothing has changed at all and I mean nothing. The frontage roads are still torn apart and the parts they that weren't complete are now torn up and covered in weeds. The highway wasn't fixed so it is now worse that it was back then. We take the backroads to get to Sherman so we don't have to drive down 75. The torn up frontage roads make traffic in town terrible. There are construction signs everywhere but we haven't seen anyone actually working in the 2 weeks we have been here.
Like most of the western US, the weather here has been extra hot, upper 90º's and lower 100º's. We try not to go out much. About the only thing we have done is go shopping. We did go to the movies for the first time in well over 2 years. We saw Jurassic World. It would have been better if they hadn't spent so much time trying to recreate scenes from earlier movies.
The only site seeing we've done was to go to the lake. I didn't even take any pictures.
We do have a little bit of news about the house. Ann, the real estate agent, scheduled a meeting next Tuesday to have our first meeting with the builder. We will be going over all the upgrades and modifications we asked for to make sure his plan has everything. It will take a couple of hours.
