It is unusually hot here in Harlengen. It was 99º when I set up the trailer.
It is cloudy with 80% humidity and temperatures in the mid 80's today. At least the wind is slower than it was in Rockport. So far, I would just call it breezy.
The RV park is called Tropic Winds. The winds part is accurate. It's a nice park and we would probably stay here again, but I don't think we will ever be coming back to this part of Texas. The humidity is killer. Brie doesn't want to leave the air conditioned trailer. If you never want to be cold, this is the place for you.
As far as RV Parks go, this one is above average. The streets are wide and the spaces are long and wide. That dead spot in the grass above is from a trailer that stayed there over the winter. You park your trailer on the grass and the cement is your patio. You then park your car on the other side of the cement. Right now is the off season. All the snowbirds have left so the park is mostly empty. We talked to a couple from Michigan who lives here most of the year. They only go back to Michigan for a couple of months in the summer.
We saw these little guys on our morning walk today.
If you look carefully, you can see 2 jackrabbits. We saw another bunny a couple of streets away.
It's a small world:
The house we were looking at in Austin is in a development called Kissing Tree. Jan was talking to Suzanne this morning and Tom's marketing director, Bob, just moved from Sacramento to Kissing Tree. If we move there, we would already have someone to meet. Kissing Tree just released a new section of houses so it is tempting.
Beer News:
Jan's sandals wore out and she needed a new pair. While we were out shopping, we stopped at Logan's Roadhouse for beers. They have a terrible selection. Just the usuals: Bud, Coors, Corona, and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Jan had the most exotic beer of their selection, Blue Moon. I had a Shiner Bock. They really like their bocks in Texas. All the craft beer places make at least one bock. It's more popular than IPAs. If you don't know what a bock is, it is a dark, malty lager. If you have ever had a Negra Model, then you have an idea of what a bock is. I like them.
