Hayward,WI

There won't be a lot of information here about Hayward. This is not one of the better RV Parks. It is very crowded and dusty (muddy when it rains).

That RV right in front of me did leave so I will be able to get the trailer out of here without backing up. That trailer is so close to me that I would not have been able to go forward enough to make the turn into the street. There is a tree, just outside of the picture, that would block the trailer.

You can also see in the picture how skinny the sites are. If you have slide outs, then that picnic table is too close to walk around. I had to move my picnic table to be able to walk around the trailer. I also had to move the fire pit so I could park the truck.

It's Sunday now and the weekend people have left (including that RV in the picture). Weekends weren't a problem last year, but this year, every weekend has the parks full. Everyone wants to get out.

Saturday was the Musky Festival in Hayward. The world record musky was caught in Wisconsin. The musky is the largest member of the pike family. Here is a musky.

That is the world's largest Musky Statue located at the Fishing Hall of Fame. It is a replica of the record catch.

We won't be coming back to Hayward. The only reason to come here is fishing, ATVing, and snowmobiling. It's not for us. No breweries or Starbucks for 60 miles.

P.S.

I forgot to mention the best part of Hayward which is Lynn’s Custom Meats (lynnscustommeats.com). They are a butcher shop/deli who do their own brats and sausages. The steaks and meats looked great (but expensive). We were there for the brats. They have 34 types listed on their website. We bought Joe’s Original Brats and also Beer and Cheese brats. I boiled the Original Brats in some of my Overinflated Tire Amber Beer. They turned out very tasty.

We bought some Cranberry and Wild Rice Summer Sausage and some Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese Curds for snacking. They only make 11 flavors of summer sausage. Jan bought some Canadian Bacon for breakfast, but we haven’t tried it yet. We also bought some beer cheese to dip pretzels in because the northeast is big on pretzels. The last thing I bought was some Chipotle Lime Dry Rub and we will try it on chicken tonight.

I know Wisconsin is supposed to be a big dairy state, but no cows so far.
