A lot has happened with the house since the last time I talked about it.
In my last blog about the house, they were about to start drywall. We are well past that stage now. If you go to the new house photo page, you can see all the pictures in all the different stages. In this blog, I am just going to show how the house is now.
As you can see in the picture above, they are starting the outside bricks. My neighbor Chuck took that picture last Wednesday. We stopped by on Sunday and they had put up more bricks. It now goes all the way to the back of the house
The inside is starting to look like a house.
The kitchen has all the cabinets but no counters or backsplash yet. It looks like a kitchen.
The living room is moving along. The fireplace is in and all the window trim is in. All the walls are painted. I think I need a better picture from the front of the living room towards the back to show all the windows and the rest of the open area.
On to the the master bedroom and bath.
Now that I am looking for pictures, all I have are the master bathroom and the master closet. No new ones of the bedroom. Oh well. We will be out there again soon.
Here are some random pictures of the rest of the house.
The first picture is the second bath.
The second picture is one of many pallets of bricks in our front yard.
Third is the laundry room.
Fourth is the garage and garage door opener.
Fifth is the front door that is supposed to be wood grain, but isn't. They haven't installed it so maybe they know that.
Sixth is the second bath with all the tile work done.
Seventh is the pantry.
They need to finish the bricks to finish Stage 6.
Stage 7 will be counter tops, backsplash, final grade of the lot, finish all electrical, AC and plumbing and outside paint.
Stage 8 will be shower doors, mirrors, weather stripping, irrigation system, landscaping, sod fencing, carpet, and flooring.
We have a final date now. February 7 will be the construction walkthrough where we go through the house looking for defects. Theoretically, they will have all the defects fixed by closing, but according to the neighbors, they usually don't.
February 14 will be closing. We go to the title company and sign and get the keys. Happy Valentines Day!
February 15 is Jan's birthday and stage 1 of moving. We will have a moving company move everything from the storage unit to the house. At that point we will have minimal furniture, but it will be enough to live in. We did keep a bed and a sofa so we can sleep and have something to sit on. We will have to buy a refrigerator and a washer/dryer to make it livable. On the positive side, all the President's Day sales will be going on.
By the time my birthday rolls around on February 18, we should have moved everything out of the trailer and into the house and our nomadic life will be at an end.
The neighbors on both sides of our house have moved in. Chuck and Sheryl in 107 and Rick and Caroline in 109. There are more people living alone the street, but we've only met those 2 couples. Jan has already signed up for the street Facebook page. It is supposed to be for everyone living on Stargazer Lily Way, but they included our little 4 house cul-de-sac.
That's all the house news for now. We leave for Yuma on November 19 and we hope the house will be even further along by then.
