There is not a lot to Junction, Texas. We drove through it in about 5 minutes.
The bridge the picture is the bridge out of town. This picture also gives you a good idea of what the Texas Hill Country looks like. There are hundreds of miles of this. The hills are mostly made of sandstone and limestone.
Junction does have one claim to fame. It has a deer horn tree. It needs a little maintenance and some more antlers added to it now.
We drove out of town along the South Llanos river. There were an awful lot of historical marker signs along the road so we stopped at a few. The first one was exciting. It was about a gang of outlaws who robbed the Pegleg post office and were chased by the Texas Rangers. They were caught near the marker and one outlaw was killed. The other 3 were caught and sent to prison. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of that one. We stopped at a few more markers and here they are.
The stairs in the last picture lead up to where the boy was killed. You can see the marker at the top of the stairs.
