Today was our last day in Little Rock. We didn't really spend much time here checking out the area. We spent one day running around shopping and today we spent the day sight seeing. Other than that, we just stayed at the park.
We drove to Hot Springs. The drive was nice. Lots of trees and very green. Trees that were not pine trees were just beginning to turn yellow. The prime time for leaf color is in a couple of weeks. We had a hard time booking RV parks in North Carolina because they were all filled up for the weekends with people coming up for the leaves.
Historic Hot Springs was a nice drive. The part just before the town and just after was all run down with closed shops. The new part of town was it better shape. I did not take any pictures because I was driving and we didn't stop and walk around (we had the dogs with us). As the name implies, Hot Springs has a lot of hot springs. A lot of bath houses line the historic district. Some are still in business. The old fancy hotels are a little run down now. No one travels for hot baths any more.
Arkansas is a hilly state. The highest point of the state is only 2750 feet tall. This means there are no great view points like you find in the west where there are actual mountains. You know, where you come over a mountain and see a valley, or lake, or canyon stretching off into the distance. It's pretty enough, you just can't see much past the road.
A little more information about the RV park. Brie is not happy with it. There are 2 disappointing dog parks. One is very small and skinny. All rocks and dead leaves. Brie can't get a good run going. Jan doesn't like it either. A giant flying bug chased her out. The second dog park is only marginally better. It is bigger and shaded. That's about all you can say for it. The small dog park, Brie rates as a 1 and the second park is a 2.
I have updated the 'Where Are We' page with our itinerary up to Thanksgiving. I also have a reservation in Orlando for 2 weeks over Christmas. We don't have anything for the first of December and for New Year's. More info later.
Our next stop is Memphis, actually Southaven Mississippi.
