It looks like I completely blew off Myrtle Beach. I will have to do a post for it. Anyway, we are past Myrtle Beach and have made it to Newport, North Carolina.
This is Whispering Oaks RV Campground. It's more of a mobile home park than an RV campground. There is one section on one road where they put all the travelers. All the rest of the park are either annual members (who park their RV's all year round and stay for the weekend) or they are actual residents who live here. It's split evenly between annuals and residents. The trailers in the picture above are annuals. Residents have more mobile home looking places.
The park is clean and well kept but the travelers sites are smooshed together pretty tightly. We don't have our awning out because it would almost hit the trailer next door. Speaking of them, they are also on their way to Maine. Who knows, we may see them at some of the same Thousand Trails parks on the way north. They congratulated me on my parking job. I guess they had a harder time parking than I did.
The dogs like the dog park. It is very large and kind of sandy. Porter has decided he wants to start digging. That's not really a problem in a trailer. This park also has a fishing pond with turtle, ducks, and geese. We found one goose nest with the goose sitting on some eggs. There is also one momma duck with 3 little ducklings trailing along behind her.
This is not a vacation campground. It is more of a pass through place. If we stay here again, it will only be for a couple of nights.
I have pictures to upload for Myrtle Beach. We went to the beach, to a garden/art gallery, and we met Bill, Jan's half brother, for dinner.
In other news, we finally got the hot water heater replaced. We went almost 2 weeks without hot water. The biggest problem was that the water line was partly plugged. It slowed down the water so much that the water heater couldn't start. No one could figure out the problem (2 tech support people and 2 mobile RV guys). It wasn't until the second mobile RV guy pulled out the old water heater that I put a screw driver in the water line and scraped out mushy sawdust that we found the source problem. The tech support guys had me replace a flow sensor valve, and when that didn't work, they wanted to replace the valve with a new valve. They were no help.
I now have a spare water with some slight leaks. I just have to replace 2 o-rings and it will be as good as new.
I will write about Myrtle Beach (the Redneck Riveria) when I get the pictures off the camera.
