North Bend has no relation to Bend. In fact it is south of Bend. It probably has to do with the fact that the Umpqua River heads north and then makes a bend to the south and North Bend is on the peninsula that creates.
When we stay here, we try to get a spot that looks out over the river. That way we don't have to look at all the other trailers.
Our stay here did not start out well. While we set up the trailer, I am usually outside working and Jan is inside working. We keep the door open because the trailer is usually hot and the air conditioning hasn't had time to cool it off yet. Porter is always over excited after a trip in the car and he is kind of barky. Anyway, I was outside setting up the trailer and Porter was doing his usual barking for attention when the guy from the next trailer came out and asked if Porter had a volume control because he was trying to take a nap. Jan had to shut the door. It's a good thing it was a cool day.
We wandered over to the casino for dinner. It was ok, not great (dessert was bad). We played some slots on the way out. Jan came out $80 ahead and I came out $20 ahead. That was one of the few times we both came out ahead. It probably helped that we didn't stay very long, we took the money and left.
Here are some photos from the sunrise this morning.
Photographer Note: The hour before sunrise and after sunset is called the Golden Hour for a reason as you can see in the first 2 photos. Just after sunrise and just before sunset is called the Blue Hour and you can see why in the third photo.
