I don't actually know where Oak Grove is. It's just the address of the RV park.
This is one of the nicest RV parks we've stayed at, if not the nicest. The only drawback to this place is that it is 30 minutes to the nearest anything.
Here are some more pictures of this park.
We read a bunch of reviews of the park before we got here and they all said the cell reception was terrible. It's not really. We have been able to stream movies so it can't be that bad. They are supposed to have free wi-fi in the park, but we can't connect to it. We can't even find the signal. It's probably at the other end of the park where all the owners live.
The RV site is all paved with retaining walls. There is a stream and waterfalls right behind us. At night the frogs are really loud. The owners put little statues on the retaining wall, but they are tacky.
There was a 9-hole golf course here. Now it is a 2-hole golf course. Most of the course use to be down next to the lake. Unfortunately, they raised the lake by 5 feet and that flooded the course. You can still see parts of it.
Getting here took a long time. It was only 200 miles, but it took over 4.5 hours to get here. Highway 7 is a designated scenic highway. It is beautiful. In my blog about Arkansas 2 years ago, I said that it reminded me of Oregon only without the mountains. This time, we found the mountains. Highway 7 runs through the Ozarks National Forest. It was all ups, downs and curves. I was mostly going about 40mph. It you ever want to see the Ozarks, I recommend this drive, just do not tow a 17,000lb trailer while doing it.
In Old News:
While we were in Hot Springs, we went to the Garvan Woodland Gardens. Here some pictures. There are even more on the Arkansas photo page.
If any of you ever camp in Hot Springs, just remember, the weekends are for partying. People come up from Little Rock to party on the lake. We were there for Memorial Day so it was packed.
