Onward and eastward. We are now in the Garden State.
Maryland was the most dangerous state we have been in. Yesterday and today combined, we drove past 5 crashes that closed 3 or 4 lanes on the freeway. That doesn't even count the breakdowns and fender benders on the shoulder. I won't miss I-95 from the Virginia border to past Baltimore.
Our trip to DC was a bust. We gave up on it. We couldn't get a dog sitter because they don't start that service until late May. The RV park has shuttles to the National Mall, but they aren't running yet. Taking a bus and train would take 1.5 hours each way. The Smithsonian is closed until May 15. Finally, there was an Immigration demonstration scheduled that day too. We skipped DC until the next time around.
Instead of DC, we drove to Annapolis. It's a cute little seaside town with a big Navy college. It was also May Day so the local garden club put flowers everywhere. Another thing going on was that it was First Sunday Art Day. They had streets closed off for restaurant seating and they had musicians playing on the streets. It was fun.
We ate lunch at Buddy's Crabs & Ribs. I had a soft-shelled crab sandwich (fried). I had to pick the legs off and eat them before I could each the sandwich. Jan had a crab cake.
In beer news: We went to a brewery called Denizens Brewing. It was the first brewery we went to that needed reservations. We didn't have any, but they snuck us in anyway. The beers were good. I had a growler filled with Farm Country IPA. They didn't have a Hefeweizen so Jan had a pilsner. The dogs had as much pretzel as they could beg.
