Pottsboro, TX - The Return

Population: 2,418 Elevation: 761'

We are back in Texas and doing some repeating. We were at this same RV Park last August.

If you want to read the post from back then, here it is:

That was our first night in this trailer.

Our trip yesterday took us from eastern Oklahoma to Northern Texas. Eastern Oklahoma is still hilly from the Ozarks and covered in tall trees. We drove through that kind of country until we crossed the Red River. After that, the country got flatter and the trees got smaller and fewer. This is more like the Oklahoma I pictured, flat with lots of farms. Here, around Lake Texoma, the country is much the same, a few hills and lots of smaller trees. Once we go south towards Dallas, the country will get flat and most of the trees will be gone.

I probably won't be writing much for the next 3 weeks while we're here. We are going to be spending a lot of time just trying to stay out of the heat. Once we get used to it, we will get out more. Our big concern is with Brie, she can't really handle the heat, she starts panting, wheezing, and gagging. We have a cooling pad for her to sleep on and we will start keeping her cooling jacket in the refrigerator. Anything to cool her down when she gets overheated. Her father, Cash Money, died of heat stroke so we will do everything we can to keep her cool.

I will write about beer. We will be here long enough to brew some beer. I will brew a golden ale today and when we go to the store, I can get more water and some pecans to make a Pecan Stout. This will be the first time for me to make up my own recipe and not follow one. It's going to be a mixture of the Bourbon Maple Stout (which was very good) and Mr. Beer's recipe for a pecan stout.
