Quincy is on the Columbia River in the part of the gorge that cuts up north through the middle of Washington.
Lots of bugs on the window and still lots of smoke in the air. This was a good day for the smoke, because it got worse on the next day. Here are some pictures of the sunset on Thursday.
It really wasn't as dark as the last picture suggests. The camera's light meter adjusted the exposure when I zoomed in on the sun. Compared to the sun, everything is black. The first picture is what it really looked like at sunset. Kind of dark, even though the sun is still up.
Today, Friday, is much clearer because there was a wind storm over night. The wind was over 20mph with harder gusts. It cleaned up the air.
The RV park is in a canyon on the Columbia River. There is a trail from the park down to a bike trail that goes along the river.
Down at the beach, we started seeing these low plants with large fruit.
We were wondering what they were until a little further along, we saw them busted open.
They look like a major source of fluff balls in the area.
I also found a fossilized giant snake.
The river was low. I guess they shut down the flow from the Grand Coulee Dam. The beach was wet so they must have released a lot of water over night, then shut it down for the day.
Here is a picture of the RV park from the bike trail.
We are not parked there on the bluff. We are parked further back in the park. Those spots are all for yearly renters.
The park is not great, but it does have everything we need like 50amps electricity and a sewer connection. It is also dry and dusty. It doesn't even have a dog park. Poor Brie.
We found out that the park that was supposed to be next did not have sewer connections and we were going to stay there for 2 weeks. I had to scramble and get 2 new reservations. One is called Wine Country RV Park and is surrounded by vineyards. They have wine tasting at the park. The second place is called Stargazers RV Park and it is near an observatory and a Stonehenge Replica.
