This is a little late, my birthday was last Thursday.
Gayle and Jack invited us over for dinner. We spent the afternoon and evening at their house on the water. We had a great time. Thank you Gayle. Since it was Jan’s birthday on Monday, Gayle bought her a card. She said it was the first time she ever bought a card that said ’Happy Birthday, Sis’.
They live in Port Charlotte, about 45 minutes from where we are staying. The house was built for Florida. All the walls in the back are sliders so they can open up the whole house to the outdoors. The weather on Thursday was perfect so they were all wide open. Brie loved the place. She spent the whole time exploring everything. Porter didn’t like the slider tracks and wouldn’t walk over them so he stayed on the back patio (or lanai, I don’t know the exact term).
We‘ve been here at the resort for a few days so now we have a better feel for it. This is one of the few places we have stayed that can really be called a resort. Other parks seem to think that if you have a pool, you can call yourself a resort. This place has everything you need in a resort: pool, hot tub, mega slide, pickle ball courts, health club, lawn bowling, bar and grill, restaurant (although it’s closed for COVID), basketball courts, fishing lake, rc boat races, hobby studio, store, beauty salon, dog groomer, dog park, a biking trail, and more. It’s a great place for RVs. The roads are great and it’s easy to park. The downside is that the spaces are skinny and the put us on a busy corner. It’s kind of noisy. We would give this park five stars if the sites were wider and we were on a less busy road.
That’s the hiking trail.
Yesterday, we had to take the dogs to get some shots and we stopped at a brewery on the way back. It‘s called Big Top Brewing Company and of course the some beer names have circus themes. It turns out that the Ringling Brothers Circus spends the winter in Sarasota. I had a Pensacola Special Bitter (malty and hoppy) and a Circus City IPA. Jan had a Welles Lager, and a Trapeze Monk Wheat. They were all good.
In other news, I finished installing the tv. It turns out that not only did they use a non standard tv and mount, they installed the mount backwards. The new tv works great. The only problem I had was that the connections are on the other side of the tv and my audio cable and one of my hdmi cables were too short. I had to buy longer ones.
In beer news, my stout and my American Ale are ready to drink. That leaves 2 not ready yet. There is a beer supply store in town. I think I will buy more bottles and brew another batch.
