We will be leaving on Sunday for Kerrville and staying there for a month.
Kerrville is the first place we stopped for any length of time in Texas back in 2020. Brie will probably still remember where the dog park is.
Austin News
Austin and most of Texas have broken heat records for the summer. The forecasts don't show any cooling off in the next 2 weeks. The whole world is too hot this summer.
Here's a tip for all you travelers, don't eat fast food in Austin. So far it's been terrible. The burritos from the Mexican grocery store were good and going out to deli's and cafe's have been good, but Popeye's chicken was tasteless and terrible, Jack In The Box was bad, I don't remember the pizza place's name, but the crust was tasteless. I guess that means we have to keep going to better places.
We are going to a Round Rock Express baseball game tonight. They are playing the Sacramento River Cats. We will probably recognize a few Giants players rehabbing with the River Cats. The Express is a minor league team for the Texas Rangers. Several times a season they change their name from the Express to the Chupacabras. I may have to get a Chupacabra hat or shirt. They have a better logo than the Express (which is the front of a train)
Trailer News
In the last blog, I mentioned that I ordered a new rim for the trailer. It still hasn't been delivered. I called the RV dealer and they said that the manufacturer hasn't shipped it yet. It's on back order. I went out and bought a cheap trailer rim to get us through the next month or so. It doesn't look anything like the other wheels, but it will at least get us back on the road. Our next travel day is only 97 miles. I guess we will find out if it can handle the weight.
House News
They have finally started on the house. They actually started back on July 8 but didn't tell us. The slab was poured and the framing has started. Here are a few pictures.
The first picture looks out of the garage so that is the front of the house. The second picture is from the back corner of the property. You can see that we have a few trees in the backyard. The last 2 pictures are front and back views of the house. There are more pictures on the New House web page.
Beer News
The Pecan Maple stout was bottled last week. It will probably be 4 months before it's ready to drink. I will start another batch when we get to Kerrville next week. I will be able to brew 2 or 3 more batches if I plan ahead. I just need to be ready to brew on Monday. We move too much in September, so I won't be able to brew again until October. When we get to Yuma, I have 4 months to brew as much as I want. I will probably use up all my supplies and have to order more.
