Spring in Pennsylvania is beautiful.
The Dogwoods are blooming. They have both white and pink dogwoods. I haven’t seen the pink ones before. I don’t have any pictures of them though. The problem with spring blooming trees is the pollen. Jan is still trying to find allergy medicine that works.
Since the last blog, the weather got better. It’s sunny and almost warm. We decided to take a little trip to see some waterfalls.
First up was Bushkill Falls. This one is on private land and they charge $19 per adult to go in. It's worth it though. They have miles of hiking trails and the trails along the creek and near the waterfalls are all wooden walkways with steps. Most places leave it natural and you have to walk on dirt trails and use rocks instead of steps. Here are some pictures of the falls and the area around it. Dogs are allowed, but we didn't bring them. It's a good thing too, Brie would never have made it with all the steps.
There are more pictures on the Pennsylvania page.
After we left there, we went for drinks. We found a brewery in Shawnee, PA. This is the ski area of the Poconos. The top of the hill was may 1000 feet above sea level so the drop is maybe 800 feet. It's just a bunny slope. Anyway, the brewery is underneath a restaurant so it is Shawnee Brewing inside The Gem and Keystone Restaurant.
The next day, we took the dogs. We thought that they might want to see a waterfall. We got to Dingman Falls and they had a sign that no pets are allowed. Bummer.
The final falls was Resica Falls. We went to that without the dogs. It is at the entrance to a Boy Scout Campground. You don't have to go all the way to the campground. It is a nice waterfall but as you can see below, fallen trees have clogged it up. I guess that happens every year.
I could have also labeled this blog as East Lyme, CT. I am writing this after another day of driving. The roads in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut are terrible.
