Three of us took a walk along the Tennessee River.
Brie lasted long enough to get from the trailer to Flint Creek and then had to be carried. Fortunately, we were prepared.
Flint Creek is not what I would call a creek. That thing is bigger than most rivers on the west coast. I mean, look at this.
It‘s a bad picture, but you see the water. They call that a creek.
We did not see any alligators.
Here are more pictures from the walk.
Today (it’s Wednesday, the river walk was Tuesday) we did a little site seeing. The historic district of Decatur is only about two blocks long. Here is a bad picture of it.
I don’t know what I did, but it looks like a carton.
We had lunch in the basement of the old bank building. The restaurant is called The Railyard. My food was good. Jan had a French dip sandwich that was so dry, she took the meat out and soaked it in the sauce to make it chewable.
After that, we drove to Courtland. An old (early 1800’s) town. We wanted to see the old buildings. They don’t really want tourists in Courtland. Only a couple of the buildings had plaques. The business district was built around 1900 and has not been kept up. The buildings are run down. A few of the old houses have been kept up. Jan had to google which buildings are historic.
This house was built in 1830.
The plaque for this mentions the Red Rovers. Jan googled them. They were a bunch of people who went to Texas to fight Mexico. They were not very good soldiers and only 8 of them came back.
I have more pictures from Decatur and they are on the Photos page.
Life Updates:
We requested our mail forwarded to us in Southaven. I requested it before we even got there. It still hasn’t been delivered. We left the RV park with a Priority Mail envelope so they can send our mail to us in Murphy. I called the RV park today and they still haven’t got it. The post office sucks right now.
I have mentioned our problems with the refrigerator. I finally got Hisense customer service to do something. The tech said it is probably the control board that needs to be replaced. While they are at it, they will replace the ice maker. I guess they have been breaking lately. We have a 2 week stay in Advance, NC and a service tech will call come out to us.
