Our winter hibernation has begun.
I haven't taken any new pictures so this is an old one. At least it is an Arizona picture.
We dropped the truck off at the body shop. The guy who looked at the truck said that it was the worst hail damage he has ever seen. Then he said that this was the 4th hail damaged car he has ever worked on. It should take 2-3 weeks to fix it, depending on parts and holiday schedules. If it's not done by December 21, then we will have to drive the rental car to Sacramento. At least our gas spending will be a lot lower than with the truck.
I've been working on the trailer. I have the trim piece bolted back on the trailer. It should hold much better than what the factory did. They only used 4 screws to hold it on. The 2 metal brackets on either end of the trim piece had both broken off too. I put 2 brackets on the back side of it this time. I haven't done the front yet but I am working on it. The front was where a piece of the trim had broken off and flown away. I bought a piece of flashing from Home Depot and cut out a new piece. I still have to bend it in 2 places and then paint it before I attach it.
Next, I need to get a replacement light and one new light lens then the trim part will be finished.
I have also replaced a broken water valve. The old one broke off when the bottom plastic tore off. I will start on the bottom pieces next week.
The last trailer news is that we bought a Starlink internet setup. We used to have T-Mobile for internet, but it doesn't work here in Yuma. They haven't rolled out new 5G equipment here yet so our modem can't find a signal. We were stuck with using Jan's phone for streaming. The Starlink works pretty good. There hasn't been any stopping and buffering but there has been some pixelation when satellite traffic gets heavy (around 7:30 to 9:00 at night).
We plan on using it at the new house too because cell service is terrible there. Most people we've talked to use wifi calling on their phones. We checked when we were there and we get 1 or 2 bars at the most. I did make one call from there and it kept dropping out. I will probably have to put the antenna on the roof of the house to get a clear sky view.
New House:
They sent us new house pictures. The ones of the inside look the same as the last set they sent. Nothing has changed yet. We do see changes on the outside.
With this picture, you can see a huge pile of dirt on the driveway. That will be spread around the lot when they clean and grade it. If you look closely at the picture, you can see the A/C unit. There are a few more pipes and wires sticking out on that side so there are more things to be added. I think on that side is the water heater, the electrical box, and the gas meter. If they don't get that dirt spread soon, a rain storm could come and wash it all out into the street. I think after the dirt comes irrigation and then landscaping.
